Reasons for an Alias

I had some good feedback on the reasons for an alias. I've included that feedback below and included some of my own. Next I will post my experiences with people using aliases!

Start a life from scratch

Birth name was quite popular and alias differentiates

Alias has an extra note of affection

Created for conscious purpose or the person giving it to them gives it for a conscious purpose

Alias initiates person into a new role / purpose

Establishes an identity in a sub-culture

Creates separation between pursuits / interests

Establish works / creative output under a separate identity

comments

Having an Alias

I have a feeling that there are a segment of people who would love to live under an alias or other identity. Why? Any ideas out there?

comments
