Masque of the Red Death was a tale about death visiting a fateful masquerade ball. My poem “Masque” is about the festivities of life, and the backdrop therein.<br /><br /><br />Masque<br />Poem for Day 119 – 20150429<br /><br />Put on the masque,<br />regale the throngs<br />with music, dancing<br />acting, and song.<br />Wear the mask,<br />the face of like,<br />on this stage <br />of ill concealed.<br />Contracts suborned<br />by sickness inner,<br />have strength <br />to portray<br />the smiling outer.<br />Make merry,<br />hide terror,<br />to fair patrons,<br />consorts all<br />in a play<br />most bitter.<br />The masque goes<br />on,<br />life dies<br />within,<br />hope worn<br />outside<br />as soul<br />expires within.<br /><br />© 2015.
