Journey to Ixtlan

wulfwalker says that Bear was adopted to a new parent today. Two more to go! Below is a picture of Bear and his Wayah.

I've put together some new cub videos using the Adobe Premiere Elements 4 software. I'm partially impressed, but there is more to learn before I know this is the application to use for all my video editing needs.

The first video features two bag battles. You'll notice that some of the cubs want to chew on the bags and others just want to tussle. Destiny, the lone female and the smallest of the batch, is one of the ones that just wants to tussle. The second video has wulfwalker feeding Timber, the most shy of the cubs. She reported that there was some progress when food-bribes were used.

Heads up guys... on 12/29 I took another monster set of cub pictures. There are 170 pics in this flickr set. I'll post a larger sample of them in a future photo essay (ASA blog... smile).

On 12/16 the cubs came inside for a short time. It was different for them, and consequently they hung close to the back door. I crawled around on the kitchen floor and got these pics...

The cubs are really growing and their distinct personalities are beginning to show. I have almost 170 pictures from 12/01 and 12/02. The spread below shows the names given to each of the cubs and displays some of the pics showing those blossoming personalities.

This is a really good picture of wulfwalker, Chakotay and the cubs. Rowan and Max are in the left background.

Here's the back-story to wulfwalker's wolf-dog cubs born on 10/31. That night she heard a commotion in the pen area. Investigation revealed a black cub. The next day there was another cub. I came over after work and got to see and photograph the first two cubs. We both thought that Aurora, the alpha female, was the mother. Well, we were wrong. It turned out that Wayah, Aurora's daughter, was the mother. The two ended up in the den featured in the pictures. Aurora pinned down Wayah and the two remained in the den until the following day. wulfwalker finally lured out Aurora with some meat. Two cubs had turned into seven! Wayah has now fully embraced her position as mother and thankfully psycho-Grandmother Aurora is no longer a problem.
