What is the Calling to Shamanism?

The following is an excerpt from one of my previous writings. As there are no absolute references here to the capital 'S' type of shaman, the notes can apply to shamanists and I submit that the word 'shaman' be interchangeable with 'shamanist'.

The base definition I am using here is that the shaman is the archetypal technician of the sacred, and their profession is mediator between the mystical and ordinary consciousness.
