May. 2nd, 2009 02:53 pmOk... I think I experienced a generation gap in advertising today. Quiznos is advertising a $4 sandwich with a commercial featuring Scott the flunky and a glowing, talking oven.
Oven (in a HAL 9000 voice): "Scott, I want you to introduce my greatest creation, the new Toasty Torpedo."
Ok... that was just creepy. While this is supposed to be cute/cutting commercial, the whole 'oven talking with a psycho computer voice AND capable of cooking my food' thing is just weird.
The real HAL 9000...
"Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy all for the love of you...
Maybe the current batch of ad executives are too young to remember the vibe that came with HAL 9000. I get shivers even now, and I work with computers all the time.
