Poem - To Smile

People dance for different reasons. They have different reactions to their dance partners. There is one universal, a measure by which participation is measured, and that is the smile. The poem “To Smile” is a lyrical exploration of my life.


To Smile
Poem for Day 158 – 20150607

I was lost in life,
the outward not matching how I felt inside.

I had forgotten
something most people take for granted.

It was a simple thing,
my weakness in times of the greatest glee.

People questioned me,
wondering if I enjoyed their pleasant company.

And then there she was,
an example of the person I ought to be.

She taught me to smile,
by her example joy returned to my face.
