“Avoiding Truth” is not about telling the truth. It is instead about the dynamics of lying.


Avoiding Truth

The lies come in many forms
prevarication by spoken word
or the absence of dialogue
seen by lens of deeds embraced

reality screams as the victim
torn to shreds in pursuit
of the goals beyond the truth
left to bleed by fallacy

made up out of whole cloth
alternative facts represent
interpretations none should embrace
except to save one’s own skin

this is the fallacy of human kind
reality created for the self
presenting forms helping the one
sadly all must take the ride

to save the ass or spite the fool
both are goals of falsity
with the short term as predicate
ego laughs at the gains realized

while future stands with waiting check
the final measure asking for dues
pound of flesh to balance scales
or loss of life to make amends

still the lies assume the forms
easy pickings on fleeting choice
luring victims to a lair
where the Devil will have his way

asking all to play along
or mock the world on their own time
duplicity raised to a quest
avoiding truth at all costs.
