From the website Mutant Reviewers from Hell ... quotes about awareness and truth.

Morpheus: What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.

Morpheus: Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

Morpheus: You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up. Ironically, that's not far from the truth.

Spoon boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Spoon boy: There is no spoon.
Neo: There is no spoon?
Spoon boy: Then you'll see, that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

The spoon quote is my favorite. I like what it implies about perception.

The topic of dreaming vs. awakeness fascinates me. Do we know the difference between the dream world and the real world? When somebody does bend a spoon, why is "I must be dreaming" a valid reaction?

From my own experiences, you only really know the difference when you've woken up and can remember dreaming. Even if you're lucid dreaming, the dream still feels real to some extent.

The television series (and movies), "Ghost in a Shell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_in_the_Shell)", has a lot to say about the reality of dreams and of memories. It is scary-right regarding the role of memories, and more loosely, the role of dreams. Do robots dream of electric sheep?

Well the Toltecs say that we are living in a dream world... that there is no difference between the living world and the dream world... that both are dream worlds... we cannot awake from the dream world but we can realize that we are in the dream world and work with it.
