How sad when such a regal, royal place to worship has gone by the wayside...it sadden my heart! What happen to the people in this area, did they leave move with the times or were they too use left to rot away?

It is my guess that the abandonment was a combination of a shrinking congregation and an every more expensive building to maintain/repair.
