The Size of Music

This morning I was listening to "Dead Can Dance". Various sources have labeled latter releases of the band as neoclassical, ethereal, or dark world music. I really like this style. I also think their music has a BIG feel to it. This seems important because there are some genres of music that don't have this feeling. Their impression is instead one of timid flatness. The Dead are anything but this. Yes, Dead Can Dance do use echo as part of their songs, and this conveys a feeling of virtual size, but there is something else in their music that conveys a largeness I very much enjoy.
