kokopelle: Horse Totem (Abandoned)

This week I attended a two day class on troubleshooting. I learned a seven step process to determining the root cause of issues and then properly correcting the same issues. One of the thing we were taught was to first collect data and then conduct an analysis. An interesting twist is that one first comes up with a list of assumptions of the data that must be collected. The data is collected, and the assumptions are checked to see if they are true. I have to wonder where the facility of intuition comes into this. The answer seems to be that intuition is good for forming those assumptions, but testing still needs to be done to confirm intuition. Hmmm... right brain meets left brain.

What's the root problem with this picture???

I have a whole entry devoted to the craziness of market research when I was working for them. :P So glad I'm not doing that any more. I like stats, but that was NOT stats.

This sounds like something that could be developed into a philosophical and/or life skills technique. A great deal of what goes chronically wrong in people's lives has to do with unrecognized and untested assumptions.
