kokopelle: (Cat - Evil Hello Kitty)

My idea of a nice morning after sleeping late? Listening to music from the electronic genre (i.e. "Call Me a Spaceman" by Hardwell) while working with photos on the computer. I've found that music is my calorie-free, guilt free way of moving into a mild ecstatic state. The ecstatic state steps away from the automaton monkey-mind. I feel better, think better and am better.

Sometimes I misuse words. They are fragile in that respect. So, I looked "ecstatic state" on the web. The Free Dictionary says the following:

ecstatic state - a trance induced by intense religious devotion; does not show reduced bodily functions that are typical of other trances

Ah! I was right. Why? Listening to music is a kind of religious experience for me. I worship at the alter of BPM. Part of my mind follows the beat while the rest goes about it's business. The part that is elsewhere is also the part that helps the automation monkey-mind clicking along. Such a nice thing...

Music is religious experience for me, too.

My synesthesia has a lot to do with it, of course. When I was younger it was even more vivid than it is as an adult. My first sexual feelings came from music when I was quite young to songs that were not sexual in lyric. I just knew they gave me all-over feelings. It was an all senses experience.

Sometimes I like songs for no reason other than the feelings they give me, which can be quite difficult to explain when they are terrible songs, whether that be lyrically, musically, or otherwise.
