Having an Alias

I have a feeling that there are a segment of people who would love to live under an alias or other identity. Why? Any ideas out there?

Some people think it would solve all their problems to start from scratch, as it were, but they don't realize they've created most of their problems and would either create them again with other people or would continue to have the internal issue.
