Reasons for an Alias

I had some good feedback on the reasons for an alias. I've included that feedback below and included some of my own. Next I will post my experiences with people using aliases!

1. Start a life from scratch
2. Birth name was quite popular and alias differentiates
3. Alias has an extra note of affection
4. Created for conscious purpose or the person giving it to them gives it for a conscious purpose
5. Alias initiates person into a new role / purpose
6. Establishes an identity in a sub-culture
7. Creates separation between pursuits / interests
8. Establish works / creative output under a separate identity
