“There are all types of love in this world, but never the same love twice”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

What is this love thing?  The dictionary.com definition of love has a few versions:
-a profoundly tender passionate affection for another person
-a sexual passion or desire
-a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection

Love seems to be either an affection, a desire, or an attachment.  What of this?  Why does Fitzgerald say we can never the same love twice?  I believe that how we love somebody is a mashed up combination of the kinds of love listed below.  Did I miss any?  I'd love to add to this list.

I think there is only one love and everything else is various shades of passion or lust or anger. How can there be toxic love? that seems like an oxymoron. How can love be toxic? That goes against everything that love is supposed to be. I think these are words that we may use to describe love but are they really love? How can love be selfish? Shallow? Possessive? Obsessive? These words do not describe love.

I recently discovered an online copy of the very first dictionary created by Noah Webster that went to print in 1828. Here is its address http://webstersdictionary1828.com/ type in Love and see what pops up. Its interesting.
