kokopelle: (Dark God)
[personal profile] kokopelle
People have wondered why I don’t smile more when I dance. My show of appreciation is slow in appearing even when I am with people whose company I very much cherish. The poem “Reluctant Smile” reveals something of the struggle some dancers may have.

Reluctant Smile
Bonus Poem for Day 077 – 20141209

My face does not show
the feelings I have
as we are dancing
this moment is shared
melancholy thoughts
rejoicing spirit.

You touch me deep down
I wish I could show
my appreciation
instead the darkness
masks my happiness
here in your sweet arms.

Temporary shade
screen me from sadness
deep shadows retreat
from your bright presence
darkness is lessened
as I gaze at you.

I would be nowhere else
this moment with you
your embrace received
I need your soft touch
your most tender smile
balm to my deep wounds.

Do do please pardon
my reluctant smile
hidden by sadness
coaxed by your presence
in the end it is
revealed on my face.
