Poem - I Could Wake
Jun. 9th, 2015 08:00 pmI am addicted to beauty. Perhaps it is a universal malady, or I am singularly cursed. No matter, it assists my poetry and photography. The song / poem “I Could Awake” is the speaker’s lyrical testimony about the beauty of another. Life is beautiful in so many ways, but the object of his affection is that much more.
I Could Wake
Poem for Day 160 – 20150609
I could wake a thousand days,
to see sunrises in that many ways,
their beauty would be pale compare
to the loveliness of you my dear.
I could wake, and if I must,
all I want to see is the beauty of you.
The bard's tunes are heaven bliss,
arranged to please and tease the ear.
This is mute in comparison
to the sound of your dulcet voice.
Diamonds sparkle and gems impress,
nature's riches worth a fortune.
Their value means nothing to me
as I gaze into the depths of your eyes.
I could wake, and if I must,
all I want to see is the beauty of you.
Silky fabrics and handsome clothes,
garments fit for king or queen,
are rough to feel when we touch,
mutual caress of skin to skin.
Sweet desserts and silky wines,
both tasty treats to my palate,
offer nothing when I taste
sweet savor of your parted lips.
I could wake, and if I must,
all I want to see is the beauty of you.
So many ways the world impresses,
but these are a mere distraction
to the true blessing to consider,
pleasing my senses in so many ways.
I could wake a thousand days,
my life rich in so many ways,
but I'd be poor without you dear,
the beauty above all other things.
I could wake, and if I must,
all I want to see is the beauty of you,
see the beauty of you,
beauty of you.
