kokopelle | Poem - Tradition

I am coming up on a decade anniversary. This is a bitter sweet one, one that marks my leaving a promising spiritual path. My energies turned in another direction, and now I walk the artistic path. I still pursue that path in a quiet way while I seek to reveal the fullness of life in all its many ways. I also want those who walk on the fringes to know that they are OK and normal in incredibly special ways.

Tradition – Part One

The path is set
curriculum drawn
books in rows
pencils sharp
time to study
says teacher
with unsteady hands
good intentions
two clay feet
soothing words
wounded allies
comfort given
as spirits trembled
syllabus discarded
books torn
pencils broken
teacher gone
tradition failed
or did I?
