kokopelle: Black Cat (cat black)
[personal profile] kokopelle
Fear and anger have led to protests, demanding action to be taken by the power elite. The poem “Beyond Control” is about the disenfranchised group, backs against the wall, fighting for their lives.

Beyond Control

Our lives matter is the chant
hurled at gates that must break
return to greatness is the aim
as hot passion sweeps the land

with the loss comes the pain
with the fear comes the rage
seeds of strife cast to grow
little wonder protest flows

social fabric torn away
set adrift in the storm
with the past leaders now arrayed
to sink the boat they betray

topple walls that protect
burn with fire the innocents
no longer will the prestige wane
when the past great again

see who matters in the end
violated by consequence
no penny to their name
the twelve commandments ripped to shreds

the reaction is what you expect
protest in destruction's wake
removal of the alien threat
making way for tinted imp

all towns must burn in his wake
as disenfranchised face his way
better ashes with the troll
than life oppressed beyond control.
