Poem - I’ve Become

“I’ve Become” is a poetic journey from pain to something beyond.


I’ve Become

In between the weeping wounds
hidden from a wider world
I want to stake my just claim
to happiness beyond the pain
the bulk of grief is for the past
so many years wasted there
if only I knew who I was
now revealed by damage done

I’ll seek a place that’s my own
not defined on others terms
(though this may be difficult
when I long to observed)
who I am, how I’m seen
combination found within
more than each as they mix
mirror turned to the path

in that glade I’ll be revealed
to the audience of myself
testing waters at the edge
of the pool of unknown depth
diving deep to find phantoms
revelations I’ll confront
moving to the theatre
I’ll be the actor and the host

acceptance before the premier
congregation waits to see
as the curtain pulls aside
revelation of what I’ve learned
there the wounds will be claimed
turned outward in sanity
healing found in grace’s hands
as I claim what I’ve become.
