Date: 2007-05-04 12:08 pm (UTC)Emily's kittens are getting big. They were born on 4/11. I have them in a big, tall box because they would scoot to places unknown if I left them to their own devices. They are playing together and don't mind being petted. Do they enjoy it? I don't know yet. They are still tiny. Emily is a small cat herself, and she looks very large in comparison to the kittens.

Date: 2007-05-04 01:52 pm (UTC)My roommate's cat, Jupiter, came from a similar situation, except the people have the resources and means -- they just love keeping cats. They have a huge basement where the cats roam, with lots of food and litter boxes that are changed daily. However, there are over thirty cats and kittens, and several females that have litters constantly. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of direct human interaction. I can't decide if it's "cat hoarding" or "cat rescuing/sheltering" or a mix of both. It's still very sad, but it is somewhat better than the cats having no home at all...

Date: 2007-05-04 01:15 pm (UTC)THe largest number of adult cats we've ever had in the house was the two or three months we had six of them. Our three, my sister's two, and my mom's one in a two-bedroom house with three adults and the Fabulous Mr. Baby. Yeah, there was nowhere to sit.

Date: 2007-05-04 01:25 pm (UTC)Prince (http://pics.livejournal.com/greensh/pic/0000tr6w/s640x480) now does not give me room to walk. He keeps throwing himself at my feet. Gads. I do some weird cat avoidance shuffle when he gets in that mood. He lays on the floor. I move forward a step or two. He rushes forward and lays back down on the floor. I don't know how to "break" him of this behavior.

Date: 2007-05-04 03:59 pm (UTC)Who says cats don't train us well? LOL... sometimes I pick him up and other times I just stand still. He figures out something better to do. Other times I just step over him (again and again) or (gently) slide him across the floor so I can get somewhere in the house. I've seen the cuddle flop before, but never to such a degree of mobility inhibitation.
