Kitty spam rocks. I know human babies are usually born with blue eyes, are cats born that way too? I just noticed they all have blue eyes.

Yes...they are! There are exceptions, though. When my kitty was a baby, her eyes were PURPLE! Now they are normal kitty-gold.

:D

I gave him the icon, don't know what it is...maybe he does.

Kitty spam! My daily dose of cute is easy to obtain these days :)

I did get the picture from [livejournal.com profile] elegy_of_flames. I'm not sure what breed the icon kitty is.

Emily's kittens are getting big. They were born on 4/11. I have them in a big, tall box because they would scoot to places unknown if I left them to their own devices. They are playing together and don't mind being petted. Do they enjoy it? I don't know yet. They are still tiny. Emily is a small cat herself, and she looks very large in comparison to the kittens.

Kittens make everything better! Emily's babies are beyond adorable and I want to come over to your house and squish them and kiss them.

I'd suggest that you send these in to CuteOverload.com, but I guarantee someone will comment about "OMG, why are you breeding kittens in your house, that's wrong!!!!111!"

The background story is that Emily was pregnant when she was adopted. I 'rescued' her from a rural cat factory. She'll be fixed after the kittens are weened.

They'll probably accept that explanation, then. Some of those people are a few nuts short of a Planter's container.
Cat factory?

A friend of mine has found herself in a sad situation. She has too little resources and too many cats. The females cats are making more cats which make more cats and so on. It is not a pretty story. I removed Emily and Prince from this environment.

You're right, that is sad.
My roommate's cat, Jupiter, came from a similar situation, except the people have the resources and means -- they just love keeping cats. They have a huge basement where the cats roam, with lots of food and litter boxes that are changed daily. However, there are over thirty cats and kittens, and several females that have litters constantly. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of direct human interaction. I can't decide if it's "cat hoarding" or "cat rescuing/sheltering" or a mix of both. It's still very sad, but it is somewhat better than the cats having no home at all...

Come on by and pick one up in a few weeks! (smile) But seriously, I may keep one, but I have to find homes for the others. My lovely mate will probably take the solid black with the short manx tail. I already have five adult cats in the house. More, and I'll be featured on an episode of Animal Planet's new series "Crazy Cat Collector".

Understood. :) I wish we were closer and that I could convince Will!

THe largest number of adult cats we've ever had in the house was the two or three months we had six of them. Our three, my sister's two, and my mom's one in a two-bedroom house with three adults and the Fabulous Mr. Baby. Yeah, there was nowhere to sit.

Off and on I've had a lot of cats in the house. I really like them. Big surprise eh? LOL...

Prince (http://pics.livejournal.com/greensh/pic/0000tr6w/s640x480) now does not give me room to walk. He keeps throwing himself at my feet. Gads. I do some weird cat avoidance shuffle when he gets in that mood. He lays on the floor. I move forward a step or two. He rushes forward and lays back down on the floor. I don't know how to "break" him of this behavior.

That's a cuddle-flop. Just cuddle him.

I think that will encourage him...

Who says cats don't train us well? LOL... sometimes I pick him up and other times I just stand still. He figures out something better to do. Other times I just step over him (again and again) or (gently) slide him across the floor so I can get somewhere in the house. I've seen the cuddle flop before, but never to such a degree of mobility inhibitation.

I LOVE the tan-eyed baby...the one with patches around the eyes. And Mama looks so content and exhausted in that last shot, lol...

I give Emily a lot of credit because of her small size. It was quite amazing to see that she had four kittens. She gets a daily ration of wet cat food to suppliment the dry food that all the cats get.

The tan-eyed baby also has a manx type tail (very short). I think they will all be incredibly beautiful.
