*cracks up* Was going through the f-list. Above your post was one from a friend in the UK also declaring that Spiderman 3 was deluged by emo. Guess I've been warned to save my money ;)
It's actually a pretty good movie. I just thought it was 'cute' that they chose the emo look to signal the alien-possessed Parker. It was just so blatant, but I guess they need something to signal "good" and "bad" Parker.
Before you think it is all about the emo, you should know that Parker puts on some really bad disco type moves while under the alien influence. That was really more scary than the Robert Smith impersonation.
OK... I give. Smith is goth. That said, he (and the goth movement) are credited with spawning the latter emo movement.
It was painful to see an emo person doing disco moves. An unholy thing defiling all things rightfully unpure.
IMO it is worth seeing in the movies. The story line is pretty good and the special effects are outstanding. I may have been snickering during the movie, but I was not about to walk out.
(yes, they are goth, no emo. Do note the beginnings of the emo haircuts though!!!)
*cracks up* I NEED to see that episdode! That being said, the guy up front seems to be wearing a Nevermore T-shirt, which is metal *grin* Ahh, the confusion of pop culture. If the movie's worth it I can probably grin and bear it. Unintentional hilarity is sometimes the best kind...
The Goth kids appeared in the episode "Raisins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raisins_%28South_Park_episode%29)" in 2003, season 7.
A note from the Wikipedia article:
Fringe-Flicking Goth Kid: Another male Goth Kid, who is around the same height and age as Henrietta. Most notable for the fact he constantly flicks his long fringe out of the way when it gets in his eyes. He has black hair with dyed red streaks, and he wears purple shoes. He especially likes drinking coffee, and he plays the bass guitar in their band. His appearance is thought to be based on Robert Smith of The Cure.

Is it worth seeing at the movies or should I wait and just rent a DVD?
