Journey to Ixtlan

The poem “Excuse Me Please” was inspired by a realization that the website ‘fetlife’ features quite the population of people from my local area, the same area reputed to be the buckle of the Bible Belt.


Excuse Me Please

Excuse me please while I indulge
naughtiness born of lust
a restlessness I’ll cater to
revel in full latitude

to which ends I can’t admit
suffice to say it was obscene
in the eyes of proper folk
not admitting to the same

this tag is made on judgment's tongue
admitting more by the unsaid
when jealousy may be implied
as virtue struggles to stay alive

freedom lives beyond these taunts
devilry on personal terms
though the actions may seem prude
compared to those who push all curves

a derivation of what’s fun
sourced in consent between two souls
or maybe more if the crowd
convenes to play in carefulness

in private spaces away from most
not advertising except to say
fellow travelers may apply
leave convention at the door.

I wanted to do a poem about the heart, but I got sidelined by reading about the importance of the springs used with swings. Oh my... and a poem was inspired. I'll do the heart thing another time!


Swing Spring
Poem for Day 050 – 20150220

Warning my friend,
from the discrete purveyors,
swing springs
are not just for suspension.

Bouncy bouncy,
it is just great fun,
but it has a reason too,
so let's stay in the mood!

It is better to stop slowly,
stretch 4 to 6 inches,
than to stop suddenly
and risk dire injury!

Smooth and steady,
the spring is the cause,
rhythmic motions
with no jars or jolts.

So install the magical thing,
that wonderful spring,
it is there for your safety,
so says your friend Abby!

What was The Cat House? It was a BBS using the QuickBBS software. It ran on an 486 AT computer using Desqview, allowing multi-tasking in DOS. This meant we could have one BBS node running on the modem (2400 baud!) and one local BBS node. Anyway, the BBS had an open public side and a private adult side.

The public side included the hottest games of the time, including Legend of the Red Dragon (LORD) and Tradewars.  Fun for all!  There was also messaging, both local and nation wide through the use of Fidonet.

The adult side included chat, messaging, games and files. It was quite adult and we had to be sure that no kids got to that side of the BBS. People logged on with their aliases and let the fun begin after they were approved for the adult stuff... but how to be sure about the users?

Our solution was to have a set time to hang at a local Denny's and wait for people to come by and present their adult bona fides. It allowed us to match their BBS alias with a real adult persona. The event became so popular that the established members of the BBS came by and just hung out. A very social event... in real life!
