Journey to Ixtlan

Tumblr again gave me inspiration. A meme featured the sentence “I'm not who I used to be”. I took this thought and spun it to the past, present, and future.


To Be

I'm not who I used to be
the past has been misplaced
in the bargain bins of chance
whispers are all that last.

I'm not who I seem to be
the masks are all you see
the eyes may show the way
to the soul behind the shades.

I'm not who I meant to be
the future is a puzzle box
I'll never have the hidden key
to the self all long to see.

I'm who I'm supposed to be
no less than stardust's trail
no more than God's chosen one
the whisper all are meant to hear.
