Journey to Ixtlan

A friend is moving forward with their dream to (re)embrace photography. I pondered why they stood out amongst all of the talented photographers in the area, and I came up with an answer. I really respect people who are talented AND driven. I like people who are smart AND active. My friend is all of these things, and I believe there is wonderful art in their future.

I believe this says something about myself as well. I would like myself better if I saw myself in the same light. Likewise, I beat myself up for not being these things. Could I do these things in little ways, enough to work in the self-esteem? Perhaps, but there are other things going on.

My lovely mate and I were talking about people's accomplishments in life. She noted that accomplished people evoke the phrase 'it's my due' as they react to the world. This got me thinking.

What's due? Nothing and everything. Expect respect due to an position. Convey arrogance to others if you believe disdain is due. Convey respect to others if you wish the same. It is due.
