A quick question before I go dancing tonight (and so that's the plan).

Have you ever lived in a "haunted house" or worked in a location that had the similar? Was the haunting more exceptional from the many 'real' accounts in TV and movies?

Just wondering!

I wouldn't say haunted, it gives the impression they were violent or unwelcome. Ours were gentle, even maternal and we delighted in them.

One appeared to be a young woman who died during childbirth in the attic, she would pull up the covers on your bed in the night and whisper "good night" or "sweet dreams". Our old arthritic dog would somehow open the attic door and climb up to the third story attic to nap. Another was a small child who liked to open cabinet doors at night and ring the servant's bell, which I'll admit got old at 2am. :)

Yes

The last house I lived in, in Asheville, seemed to be haunted. Things would move and mists were witnessed. It wasn't a scary experience; rather, it was entertaining to those of us who lived in the house. Aunt Tudi, Granny, Little Granny, Aunt Edna, and I were the inhabitants of this house. We'd gather sometimes at 3 PM to watch everything that could move or swing begin to do so. There were no trains nearby and Asheville doesn't have a subway system. There was no explanation for the odd happenings. Both Little Granny and myself witnessed mists on more than one occasion. One mist took the form of a man standing in the doorway of the living room. None of us felt any threat from whatever was there. It was more of a magickal, friendly arrangement.

I haven't lived in a haunted house, but I've stayed in some - one which was extremely 'active' and exorcised / cleansed two of unpleasant spirits now.

For one of the exorcisms, we got in our local paranormal society, so they could record / videotape some of the occurences / sounds etc. I still offer house cleansings for friends if they need them, it's part of my training as a shamanist.

Lots of places I've lived or been to have been haunted.

The place I work at right now has a little boy ghost. I'll be in there all alone with the doors locked and I'll hear doors open and close. Somebody looked it up. There used to be a general store complete with people living above it and some bars next to it. Several deaths happened there. Little boy was one of them.

My grandmother's house (whom we sometimes visited for a couple months between moves) was haunted by a man who used to live there. Mr. Judge spent a lot of time in the office while he was living, and you'd see him in there. We also saw him walking outside along with boot prints.

My parents current house isn't "haunted", but many people don't sleep well or feel well there. My mate swears it used to be a burial ground or something. The area is just really uneasy to him.

Our current apartment is haunted by two ghost cats. One male, one female. Since we got our cat, they moved out. However, we had a big storm a couple weeks ago and they came in from the weather. Freaked our cat out. He was jumpy all the next day.

I have lived in several haunted houses. There's been discussion among my allies about whether I just get attracted there or if I in fact "power up" locations with the tendency . . .like disturbed teenagers tend to activate poltergeists.

It's never been as intense as it is in the movies.

In the worst of the places, I was drawing a bath one spring equinox and had the thing where the water out of the tap looks like blood. Turned out to be rust, but I did acknowledge the whole -- ha ha ha y'all got me good! For the timing and effect. I wasn't entirely aware that I was psychic, and in that house I was sitting alone on the floor in the empty house waiting for my ride (I had dropped off my car so I could drive the U-Haul) and a full sized tabby cat walked across the room in front of me. It looked JUST like a real living cat except it vanished before it exited the room. Thought I was losing my mind. There was also a thing with clocks. The most consistent was I would come home from work and a wall clock hung on my bookshelf would be laying face down in the middle of the floor -- too far for it to fall and not possible to fall without knocking off a bunch of crystals I had on the shelf in front of it. Happened several times a week for many weeks before I gave up and admitted the house was haunted and I knew it.

We had a Greek Orthodox priest come and bless the house and he rather freaked out.

The nice thing was that I wasn't the only one who saw stuff, so . . .

Many years later, when I first started working on the feminist ranch, the owner "knew" there were ghosts in her home (family murder) but didn't want to deal with it. We were standing in the ranch house (different location) kitchen talking about it and a whole stack of those blue spackle metal plates flew out of the cabinet at us, losing their "lift" about 6" before they hit us. After that back at her home, she and her roommate would hear guitar music on the first floor frequently when they were upstairs and nobody was on the first floor. Also, oddly, the stationary exercise bike would ride itself. They just blamed it all on me, but . . .

A few years later I was living in a historic home a couple of blocks away from her house and the ghost wouldn't let men stay there overnight. All kinds of weird things happened before I moved in. My lover at that time bought the house for me. He was a methodist minister, but it was all so real that he took to bring presents for the ghost whenever he came to visit.
