My 2015 “Year of Poetry” is officially over on 01/01/2016. The poem “The Year” marks the ending of my year of poetry.

The Year
Poem for Day 364 – 20160101

The year was passed with poetry
a vow I made to you and me
providing prose on each day
showing me in every way.
No topic was to intimate
though the metaphors were complex.
A life was too revealed
for the past versions of myself.

Shadows lingered on the edges
inspired by a world at large.
My friends were inspiration
muses for the imperfect bard.
The exploration led so far
too close some days it seemed.
Sanity was a question
the answers were the remedy.

Joyful dance filled the void
filling my relationships.
Poetry showed my love
for the social scene.
Analogies filled my works
meanings beyond partners.
The truth was still served
by movement's blessed corridors.

Ticks on the wheel spun by words
a year has passed with poetry.
Sharing both the good and bad,
and everything in between.
Now the time has concluded
New Years has returned,
so much more to explore
perhaps we'll do this again.

The end of Christmas Day has me writing the poem “Another Year”. The end of the year holidays consume so much energy and time. They end, and then the cycle begins again. This can be bitter sweet and also time for renewed effort. Both paths are available.

Another Year
Poem for Day 358 – 20151225

All the gifts have been unwrapped.
The stockings search for loot inside.
Cards revealed with best wishes
for celebrants at the year's cold end.

Another year is winding down.
Days tick off till New Year's night.
The festive season has now passed
with turkey had and pie put down.

Father Time will soon expire
with babe at hand to take his place.
Champagne toasts shared with friends
drop the ball for celebrants.

The holidays are memorable,
humanity's best on display,
yet underneath there is a lure
to do the same another year.

With some luck we'll once again
watch the wheel repeat itself.
The holidays come and go,
to carry on will be our goal.

The twilight zone period of the holidays is ending for me as I return to work on Monday! The year begins again. I kind of know what's in store in 2015. I also know that things have been set in motion for new things. How much of the same and how much new? The outcome is largely up to me, with karmic ripples thrown in for variety. The key will be to turn from the closed past, open my heart, and receive all the blessings to come.

Wheel Turns On
Poem for Day 004 – 20150104

The wheel has turned,
renewed itself,
and now it begins again.
I expect more
of the same,
but there will be new
that I cannot intuit.
So much in flux,
so much could change,
and yet her I am,
seeking more of the same.
New friendships,
fresh adventures,
what will happen
in 2015?
There will be dancing,
this much I know,
partners embraced,
with love bestowed.
Share my life,
one and all.
Pull back the curtain,
between which I hide,
because the wheel turns on,
and to you I confide.
Hold space for me,
friends afar,
for the wheel turns on,
as I open my heart.

2013 has been a year of moving for us, literally. We found a new place and then moved into it. The household was moved and we got used to the new schedule/location. There is still lots to do, but the majority of the moving has been done. 2013 was a year of consolidation as our stuff came together in one location. We still have too much stuff, including properties. Stuff stuff and more stuff! We wanted to have a house-warming party, but the house is still not ready. Ok, that's it for 2013. Another post will look forward to 2014.
